The triangle post is a standing yoga pose that increases stability while toning the legs. The name refers to the triangular shape that your body stretches into. The triangle pose engages every part of the body, it strengthens the core, opens the hips and shoulders and stretches the legs. Practicing this pose can create symmetry through your entire body. When you are in the triangle pose remember to keep your front leg straight and your torso aligned with your thigh than to rest your hand on the floor, and only lower your hand as far as your flexibility allows you to.
There are a lot of benefits to including the triangle pose in your yoga routine which includes hip abduction, hamstring stretch, adductor stretch, spinal extension and rotation, as well as shoulder retraction. The challenge with the pose is to keep your spine long and straight, avoiding the top shoulder from falling forward, creating the crease in the front hip, avoiding lateral flexion and releasing the need to go deeper (YogaFit.com, July 2017).
