Juicing 101 with Jill

Have you seen the documentary "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead"?  If not, you need to see it.  It is available on Netflix  or on-line, I'm sure.  Anyway, my family watched this and were inspired by the story enough to go out and purchase a Breville Juicer.  We chose to commit to the 3 day "reboot" plan.

My Kitchen Counter - $125 for 3 days

After shopping for all the veggies and fruit  we began our "reboot" -  www.rebootwithjoe.com

First day, feeling great and full with the "sunrise juice" in the am and Joe's "mean green" in the afternoon and evening.  I must say even the dessert juices were refreshing.  Day 2 began with the Carrot-Apple-Ginger juice followed by the "green lemonade" which was very lemony but satisfying.  We really enjoyed the "ginger pear-snip" dessert juice that night.  My husband reminded me we could supplement with nuts...thanks, we definitely needed to.
Day 3, I was looking forward to finishing this.  Still enjoyed the "carrot-apple-lemon" juice in the morning and a "garden variety" in the afternoon and evening.  We even tried the "pear pie delight" again.  So good!!!

Here are some helpful hints...

*use a compost bag in the pulp bin for easy clean up
*be prepared for the cost, I spent $125 for 3 of us for 3 days
*supplement with nuts, seeds, etc

I will say I did feel energetic and lost a couple of pounds which I have managed to keep off.  I will continue to use the juicer for healthy snacks and even to replace a lunch or breakfast.  It takes some clean up but is worth it.  The Juicing Bible is available at Costco and the recipes that I have tried are delicious.
